Visual Arts Years 3-4: 'Place'

Carolyn wrote this engaging Visual Arts unit for ACARA.

Through this PAN workshop, participants will experience a teaching unit which investigates and discusses purposes and meaning of artworks using the environment as a stimulus. ‘Place’ can be in your mind, in your heart, a geographical place, local through to global. In this unit children will explore ‘place’ as an environment through Visual Arts.

Creature Maps

Inspired by the designs of Indigenous cultures all over the world, this workshop looks at how
geographical concepts can be investigated through Visual Art. The unit can be adapted to suit a
range of year levels.

Save the Trees!
Designed for primary classroom teachers or drama specialists

In this practical workshop, participants will actively engage in selected drama activities while gaining an insight into the process involved in creating a unit of work based on the new Arts curriculum (Drama) as the key pedagogical tool but containing embedded links to Geography and Science. The activities taken from the unit of work have been designed to be used with Year Three or Four students but may be adapted for lower or higher year levels.
